Turritella Agate’s rich brown and black colors are patterned with the fossilized remains of sea creatures millions of years old. The name “Turritella” comes from the name of the genus of marine gastropod mollusks whose remains are seen within the stone. Like other Agates, Turritella Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Agate has been discovered with artifacts from cultures of the Neolithic Period, also known as the Stone Age, occuring 10,000 years ago.
